Accessibility

What we aim for

The website and the portal are built towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What that means in practice

• A “Skip to main content” link is the first thing the Tab key reaches on every page, and the item in focus is always marked.
• Text sizes follow your browser’s setting, and pages are built to reflow on a narrow screen.
• Photographs that carry meaning have a text description.
• Animation stops if your device asks for reduced motion. There is also a “Pause animation” button at the foot of every page, and a “Reduce animation” switch on the portal’s Profile page.
• There is a light and a dark theme.
• The tour form says what went wrong in words and keeps what you typed.

What we know is not perfect

The festival decorations and the moving backgrounds are decorative and hidden from screen readers. The map on the Admissions page is provided by Google and we cannot vouch for its accessibility; the address and a link to directions are given in text beside it. Some forms inside the portal still close without saying why when they cannot save. The pricing presentation is a slide deck and has not been checked. We are working through these.
